Details

Composition:

Xylometazoline hydrochloride  B.P…0.05%

Description:

Xylometazoline is a sympathomimetic agent with marked alpha-adrenergic activity, intended for intranasal use. It is a sympathomimetic amine of the imidazoline class. It act directly on alpha adrenoreceptors but does not act on beta-receptors. It constricts the nasal blood vessels, thereby decongesting the mucosa of the nose and neighboring regions of the pharynx. This enables patients suffering from nasal congestion to breathe more easily through the nose.

Indications:

For the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion in perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), and sinusitis. Xylonap  has also been found to be effective in relieving congestion and as an adjuvant in acute and chronic otitis media, serous otitis media.

Preoperatively to help visualization of the structures of the nose and post operatively to reduce mucosal bleeding in various nasal surgeries.

Dosage and administration:

Children 2-12 years (0.05%)

1-2 sprays in each nostril 2-3 times a day.

Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to xylometazoline.

Presentation:

Bottle of 15 ml.
