Composition:
Each capsule contains Omeprazole USP 20 mg (enteric coated pellets)
Description:
Omeprazole is a substituted benzimidazole that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H + /K + ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell thus blocking the final step of acid production.
Indications:
- Acid related dyspepsia
- Peptic ulcer
- GERD
- NSAID associated ulceration
- Refractory oesophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Dosage and administration:
The capsule should be taken before meals.
Acid related dyspepsia: 20 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
Refractory oesophagitis: 20mg once daily.
Peptic ulcer disease: 20mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
NSAID associated ulceration: 20mg daily.
Zollinger Ellison syndrome: 60mg once daily.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation.
